Which Gas used in Air Conditioner

gas used in air conditioner

Nowadays R-134 gas used in air conditioner Very recently it was R-22 which is no longer manufactured due to irrational concerns about it’s global warming potential.

Somewhat silly because generally people don’t buy it and vent it into the atmosphere for no reason still plenty of R-22 in circulation.

There is still lots and lots of equipment that uses R-22, though you need to obtain a license to purchase it.

R-134 is less effective, and R-134 systems are generally much less reliable. R-134 requires much higher pressures and is less friendly to seals. This makes R-134 systems generally less reliable.

There are chillers for electron microscopes (they cool the water that cools the microscope) that are decades old, still running fine on R-22. Newer chillers running on R-134 are much less reliable. A similar thing can be said for modern vehicles, which all use R-134.
